I believe that the possible overturning of Prop 8 is not a good idea. I have this belief for two main reasons. First off, if this Prop is overturned who knows how many other propositions will be send to the court for re-evaluation. The whole system of voting for propositions will become some sort of public joke. It wont be about what the people want, it will be about who can find the best judge to overturn the call.
The second reason, is that America has always been based on what the people want. We pick the President, the Congressmen, and almost everything by a vote. I really don't want to have that slowly be taken away from me. Who knows, first starts with the propositions, then moves to bigger and bigger things. Voting may not always be the most logical answer, but it's our right as Americans.

ReplyDeleteI like the first argument you make, which states that "we dont know how many more propositions will be sent to court," and i agree with that statement because it is true.
ReplyDeleteI think this is completely true. I don't know why this even happened, it got voted yes and thats how it should be. We are not saying we oppose gay marriage, we are saying that once a decision has been made, it should stay the same.
