Hot Topics: Mosque at Ground Zero
In my opinion I don't think that they should build the mosque near ground zero. I think that when people come to ground zero it shouldn't be for a cultural place it should just be for what happened on 9/11. People should go to ground zero as a memorial place or to remember the terrible thing that happened. I don't think they should come for any other reasons besides that. You want to go there and remember the people of our country that died. And it should be sacred grounds because a lot of people were killed there and families that had people they know killed, I think it would be insensitive to them.

I agree with you that cultural building with mosque shouldn't be built. Even though it is 2 blocks away and you can't even see the Ground Zero, we should respect the people who died on 9/11. As you said before, ground zero should be known as a memorial place. I think its as simple with using our common sense to make this a big deal.
ReplyDeleteYou make a very intresting point and I had agreed, until i found out that it would be built 2 blocks away, the World Trade Center can't be seen from there. I think perhaps, they should be allowed to build a mosque there. There is plenty of other space to build a memorial and we Americans need to learn that we can't blame all the Muslims for 9/11 just because the people who struck the World Trade Center were Muslim.
ReplyDeleteI'm still uncertain about how I feel about this mosque being bulit. On one hand, it is two blocks away from Ground Zero, and from a legal stand point, the builders have every right to build there. On the other hand however, I feel that it's kind of like a slap in the face to those that passed in 9/11.
