Jim Crow Blog

My first thoughts about this article was that it was a horrid and very unrealistic way to deal with the way these people were thinking. Although that's when i realized that that was the way that these people were raised. They grew up thinking that blacks were the complete opposite of them. They grew up with people around them treating blacks that the way they did. The most outrageous law from the Jim Crow laws was the law that stated "Blacks were not allowed to show public affection toward one another in public, especially kissing, because it offended Whites." This law was ridiculous to me beacause if blacks arn't even allowed to show affection in public thats almost like getting rid of the whole black race in America. That was just my opinion. (Mrs. E. I sent you my old blogs hope you got them.)

  1. I feel the same way that these laws are completley ridiculous and wrong. I also thought it was a good point when you said thats thats the way these people where raised back then. It still is very shocking to me though that people can be so hateful to others for something like thier race.

  2. That is very true. I guess when you grow up in a certain belief weather it is wrong or not you don't know any other way of thinking. And what do the white people care if a black person is showing affection to their loved one or friend.

  3. Ditto. The Jim Crow laws had WAY TOO MANY stupid rules that flat out ruined the lives of blacks. I bet if there were anyone still alive who lived during that time period would most likely be be hated and hate themselves for what they did to blacks.

  4. I agree with you completely, I felt like they just had a bunch of laws that they made up on the spot just because they could. I think that half of the laws on there were made so that the white people could just shove it in the faces on the back people that they were better than them.

  5. I completely agree. When I read the article I got so mad and it just doesnt make sense to me how people could even start to think like that.

  6. i agree with you because its sad how these laws became a way of life for the people in the south. its sad to think that people would degrade others based only on looks
