Jim crow laws

I was mind blown when i read that article, like everyone else in the class i knew that the crow laws were bad but i didnt know racism went that deep. for example:Under no circumstance was a Black male to offer to light the cigarette of a White female -- that gesture implied intimacy.

^^^ What the heck? thats just dumb. the people that came up with these laws are complete crap.

In another part of the article it says something along the lines of a black person is not allowed to even hint at the fact that a white person is lying. there was freedom of speech at the time which makes it even worse. I was very annoyed when i read this article because of how rough the african americans had it back then, i think thats incredibly messed up.
