Jim Crow Laws Blog
I found it strange that Christian ministers that white people were the "Chosen" people, the Blacks were cursed to be slave, and that God believed in segregation, how did that belief start or orginate from? I also think that the Christians made-up some things addressing Blacks as cursed. I feel bad for the Blacks, because politicians have a lot of power in their hands, as well as influence, and if they believe in pro-segregation, it might cause a problem for the Blacks' attempt to end segregation. I am confused of the rule that states: "Blacks were not able to show public affection towards one another in public because it offended Whites. How does it offend Whites? I am not suprised by all the rules created for Blacks, so many Whites were racist towards Blacks. I was suprised to find that Whites would do lynching to keep Black people "in their place." Whites killed Blacks by the thousands, which is a shocking number. These thousands of Blacks killed were accused of something or the other, but studies show that 1/3 of the Blacks killed were innocent and falsely accused. I think that the government should have removed the police force. The police were either part of the attacks on Blacks or made no attempt to stop or prevent the attack. What is the point of the police force, if they are not going to protect anyone anyway? I wonder how the Blacks managed to survive, knowing everyday that they might be killed by the mobs, and there was no one to help them or put down the mobs. If I were president or in-charge at the time, I would quickly supress the mobs and put an end to segregation. I also have another question: Who defined if a Black was convicted guilty?
