Jim Crow Laws

I have heard of the Jim Crow Laws before and always knew that they were horrible and very racist, but I had no clue they were this bad! Also, I had no clue about the Jim Crow etiquette and how much they stressed the fact that White women and Black men should practically never come in contact with each other. It is unbelieveable that such servere laws and unwritten rules were being carried out (a lot of the time violently), even all the way up to the 1960's! Another thing that I found very shocking was that Whites used religion to justify racism and hatred towards Blacks. This article definitely opened my eyes about how bad and how deep racism ran (and, some could argue, still does) in the South.
