Jim Crow Etiquette?

When i read this article, my jaw was seriously on the table. The kind of things that were considered laws (against blacks) were outrageous. I can honestly say I learned many more facts about this time period of extreme racial discrimination. Not only were blacks and whites segregated, but by the laws that i read about in the article, they were definitely looked down upon by having them be introduced a certain way, or known a certain way. I guess that many assumed that whites were better and perfect and never did anything wrong or to harm anyone, and that everything bad that was done in a society or town had to be a black person's fault. But last time i checked, there was such thing as white trash; people who falsely lived a lie, lied about things, caused mayhem, and couldnt be seen--atleast in my eyes as someone of any good character-- like a person who was caring or allowed to be treated as a human. Yes, there are good people and bad people, but that should of been decided by their actions, not the color of their skin.

  1. I aree with everything you've said here. I learned so much in this article. I never thought that these laws were so harsh and degrading. I also strongly agree that a good person with a kind heart, both black and white should be treated kindly and respectfully.

  4. I agree totally with you. Whites were treated so good like they could do nothing bad and blacks were the ones to blame. Even if blacks did nothing wrong and the whites did it, they would always blame the black person which makes no sense.

  5. I too agree with you. Whites wre treated well compared to Blacks. Yes, the rules against Blacks are pretty stupid and ridiculous. But somehow, the Blacks still managed to survive the era and get their freedom. That is why I think that Black people have intresting history beind them, because they have come a long to way to shape into our society.

  6. yeah! At one point or another we all kind of forget that not only were the laws unfair but they really were looked down upon and considered not even humans

  7. I agree with you. There's absolutely no reason as to why Blacks should've been treated this way compared to Whites. It was almost like the Civil War again, the southern states just kept making their own laws on segregation even though the government had finally started to at least try (if you want to call it "try") to make Blacks and Whites equal.

  8. I completely agree with you. I can't believe some people would automatically assume that just because someone is black, that they are more prone to violence and breaking the law than a white person. There are definitely good and bad people in the world, but whether you are a good or bad person has absolutely nothing to do with the color of your skin.
